Butterfly Square Box

This piece of origami is called the Butterfly Square Box. It was in a book called Fabulous Origami Boxes by Tomoko Fuse. I dedicated this box to my mom, because she’s the reason I even started this awesome website. I made it purple and yellow, because those are her favorite colors.

This was a really fun and interesting box to make, and it is really sturdy and great for holding small things. When I was making this box, some challenges I faced were that some of the steps were hard for me to understand. But when I worked on them for a few minutes, I always figured it out.

The one thing that was the most amazing about this box, is that I have always dreamed of making something like this, and I was shocked to find out that it even existed. When I normally make origami boxes, I glue some other origami figure on top, but that’s not completely origami. This box is so great because the butterfly is not a separate piece of paper. It is the same piece of paper as one of the parts of the box. I chose the butterfly because it is simple, and one of my favorite animals.

All in all, I think that this is a really great box for gifts, storage, or even just decoration! I very strongly recommend making this wonderful Butterfly Square Box!
