Chrysanthemum

This piece is, like the Sunburst, from Ornamental Origami by Meenakshi Mukerji. It is called the chrysanthemum. Unlike the sunburst, each piece of this model starts with a blintz base, which is a common base used in origami. You can use it to make fortune cookies, which I bet many of you have made before! The blintz base is made by folding the paper in half horizontally and vertically, and then folding all 4 corners of the paper to the center, which is where the previous two creases overlap. This is one of the easiest bases I’ve ever folded because it has only 6 folds.

There is a 6 piece, 12 piece, and 30 piece version of the chrysanthemum , but I made the 6 piece one.

I found this model easier than the sunburst. The pieces were less complicated and in my opinion, the model was more structured. I thought this model was great and I would highly recommend beginners at modular origami to try the 6 piece version of this. If you’re looking fore more of a challenge, feel free to also try out the 12 piece and 30 piece versions!
