If you ever get the book Exquisite Modular Origami by Meenakshi Mukerji, and open it to page 66, you will see the steps for building the Ornamental Cube. it is derived from Shuzo Fujimoto’s Hydrangea. This cube’s beautiful curls and intricate patterns make it perfect for decoration. It has 3 layers, all of them complementing each other, and it is one of the most beautiful origami pieces in my collection.
In my opinion, this was a quite challenging piece because of the intricacy. It took a lot of time to make each piece, and you had to repeat it several times. I, personally, can be impatient sometimes, and I don’t like making something over and over again, because it gets boring. It was also quite challenging to put on the last piece, but it was all worth it.
Update:
Looking back at this post after a couple of years, I realized that I’ve vastly improved over my origami journey. I wanted to try re-folding this model to see if I could make it better, and the end result was so much better than the original! I’m super happy with the improvement!
